L'Hommée red

L’Hommée is a unit of land measurement of 431 m² which correspond to the surface that a winegrower (or fossorier) worked in one day with a tool during the period of 7th april 1795 in Beaujolais and Lyonnais. The name of this tool is a « fessou » : hoe with two points of 14 to 15 inches and a short handle. With this tool, the winegrower carried out the first Spring ploughing.

Vineyard :

- Terroir : crystalline and eruptive soil, lightly acid, whose the nature is clayey - sandy.

- Grape : Gamay

- Situation : plots of the South of the appellation.

Wine harvest :

- manual and selecting picking of grapes

- Harvest with fully grapes

- Yield : 50 hl / ha

Vinification :

- Concrete tank of small capacity

- Hot « pre fermentation » macération of few hours with control of temperature.

- Fermentation of 3 to 5 days.

- Separation of the free run juice and press juice.

- End of fermentation in stainless steel tank with control of temperature.

- Malolactic fermentation searched for a well balance.

- Bottling : At the beginning of the year (February/March)

Tasting notes :

A bright and limpid ruby color. A nose of red fruit (strawberry, redcurrant…). In the mouth, tannin are present. A well balanced and feminine wine.
