Domaine de Champ Guichard red

The named-place « Champ-Guichard », which is german origin, belonged to « Baron Guichard of Montagny ». He proclaimed to be the First Baron of Lyonnais, reigned on his land and governed the villages of Montagny, Millery, and particulary Givors et Soucieu. The coat of arms of our cuvée to refer to primitive castel which was burned out in 1465 during a riot. Rebuilded in 1510, its building live on today on the Prasseytout territory. The prison was in the outbuilding of the castel’s farm, which was a old arched cellar where brigands were locked.

Vineyard :

- Soil: silty and sandy ground which the structure is light and very permeable.

- Grape : gamay

- Location: plots of vineyard are placed in the village of Orliénas and Soucieu en Jarres in the South of the AOC.

Wine harvest :

- Manual and selecting picking of grapes

- Harvest with fully grapes

- Yield : 50 hl / ha

Vinification :

- Concrete tank of small capacity

- Semi-carbonic maceration.

- Fermenting of 5 to 8 days.

- Separation of the free run juice and press juice.

- End of fermentation in stainless steel tank with control of temperature.

- Malolactic fermentation searched for a well balance.

- Bottling : At the beginning of the year (February/March)

Tasting notes :

A strong ruby color with a good brilliance and limpidity.

A subtle and complex nose of spicies aromas (black pepper), liquorice and undergrowth. In mouth, the attack is clean, with silky tannin and well lenght.
